I don't think the Bible said anything about Paul seeing Jesus before or after the resurrection (that doesn't mean it did not happen) or at the ascension until Paul was struck blind at ??? (forgot the city or roadway).
Thinking more about Paul...it's likely he saw/met Jesus before the resurrection. Paul had to be in Jerusalem at that time (??) and it is said that everyone in Jerusalem knew what happened.
After the resurrection, the Bible says that Jesus physically appeared only to believers, not to unbelievers.
Matthias was added to the group by a drawing after the ascension, but he had been with the group already.
Why don't you translate that whole book into ASL?!
I remember being very impressed with that book and going to Lee Strobel's website. I was disappointed to find the videoclips there not captioned.
This Noah already did the ASL translation of the New Testament and its now on dvd (In fact, he was a kid doing it!) I have them myself! you can find them at Deaf Missions.com
I'm a strong fave of southern sweet iced tea!! Cannot resist it!
Anyways, it was actually "Saul", not "Paul".. Saul's name changed didn't happen until chapter 13 in the book of Acts.
Saul was on his way to Damascus to capture more Christians (at that time were a group of people called, "Followers of the Way". There's no mention that Saul met Jesus in Jerusalem in the Scriptures. He "might" have seen him around because Saul was brought up by a Pharisee named Gamaliel. Saul became one of the most powerful religious leader after Pentecost. Saul gave an approval of Stephen's death (stoned) by holding the stoner's cloak.
If you read Acts 9, it's before the name change from "Saul" to "Paul" in chapter 13. Then in Acts 22, Paul tells a story about his encounter with Jesus on the way to Damascus.
When I read your comment about Paul (Saul) seeing Jesus before resurrection, I looked at my vlog again and caught myself accidentally saying that Paul saw Jesus ascending to the heaven. I guess what I was trying to say is that Saul refused to listen to believers’ statements about seeing Jesus raising from the death. You are right, Paul did not see Jesus until he was struck blind at by Him (like Mark Lowenstein says). Lee Strobel’s videos not captioned… that’s absurd! By the way, like anonymous suggests, you can view the Bible in ASL by clicking here. Enjoy!
Amen. Great post!
