A Modest Proposal=A Meaningful Joke

In this vlog, Noah discusses how his previous vlog, "A Modest Proposal", is a meaningful joke.

Yes, I did catch your joke when you first vlogged and had a good chuckle... you are good at creating satires.

But good to hear from your POV.

Wow, Noah. :)

You should have named your blog, "Noah's Ark". ;)

One of our sons is named Noah. :D

I love your message! :)

Right now, though - I just feel overwhelmed and there isn't anything I can do... damned if I do, damned if I don't. I also see so much – but I am more of a realistic and at the same time, there is a slim hope hanging in me. I’m not going to go into details here.

Ahh. Thanks for the powerful message! :)

It's good to see you again - although I missed your previous vlog, but I did go watch that when you suggested doing so before continuing with the rest of your vlog.

How did I miss that one?!! Ouch. :)

You gotta come back more. :)

Noah,

Good Vlog!

Keep up the gospel, people like you are getting the Deaf community to see the light at the end of the tunnel getting brighter and brighter.

The PAH reality will come for us sooner because of people like yourself.

John F. Egbert

Hey Noah,

I enjoyed and appreciated your satire and the reasoning behind it. Watching it forced me to think outside the box, and I thought it was a great way to elevate Deaf discourse.

However, I have a question: Since 90 to 95 percent of Deaf children's parents are hearing, how do you plan to distribute your video clips to them? They could greatly benefit from watching them. (Is Ben Vess still doing the transcribing, by the way?)

Anyway, thanks for the satire. It made me chuckle -- especially the part about "Deaf" noises :)

Chris

the two lemons? :)

wasn't sure if you covered that? (my ASL readback isn't that sharp yet).

Hi Noah, I could not help but notice your t-shirt, it is a funny t-shirt. Did you put that on purpose??

I understand where you were coming from. Since I don't know you personally, how can we take you seriously or not because in your other vlog, you looked very serious. You know we depend on peoples' facial expressions and not words so it is hard to tell. Maybe next time, add more exagrated facial expression so we would know you are not serious. I feel like I was feeble-minded (ASL for hands bending on your forehead) to swallow what you believed in.

Thanks for sharing!

Hey everyone-
Thanks for your comments!

Susan-
I'm sorry if I am not clear on the lemon part in my vlog. I talked about how two lemons represent two sour worlds, those of deaf and hearing. I encourage people to change their perspectives toward those two worlds. We need to remove our bitter attitudes toward hearing people by forgiving them for any kind of discrimination and teaching them about our culture with patience and love. In regard to some of our attitudes toward the deaf world, we need to fully realize that different kinds of deaf come from the same one world that we need to unite with each other, instead of trying to "conquer" the deaf world.

Michele-
Yeah, I apologize for not being so obvious with my satirical tone in my previous vlog. You are right that I should've revealed apposite expressions on my face. But, I would also like to thank you for focusing on my message! Thank you for commenting on my t-shirt. Beaker, the muppet on my t-shirt, rocks! Agree?

For Christ,
Noah

thanks Noah, appreciate the infos :)

agree with you, we need to work with hearing people and them with us.

Ditto! Thanks for the note. If you have any more funny or unusual t-shirts, please wear them when you do your vlogging, smiles :-)
