Plus, I somewhat agree with some people that realistically we can not memorize other countries' deaf signs for their own countries. Like I said in my response, it is better that we begin from our own ASL "vocabulary" and analyze them and if they need to be changed, then we can change them and STILL be using ASL.

Hello Noah,
you have a good point about ASL countries. my opinion best to not ASL body features. I suggest spell name country then ASL countries without offensive. it is important impression to spell name first then ASL countries because Deaf People dont know ASL proper countries. I dont know all countries ASL.Thank you for bring up good issue!!

being a social studies teacher, i constantly correct myself when i sign some of those courtries wrong then i decided to teach both signs (a lot of work, yes) to kids, i realize that it is a good opportunity for kids to be exposed both signs (being politically correct, and old asl sign for courties). So, i think it is worth the time to sign BOTH signs for each country especially to kids and new asl signers as well.
love your blogs, always educational and entertaining! :o)

p.s. me curious, u part of the deaf Buchholz family up in minn?

Great vlog!

I do have some issues when it comes to the discussion of the culture of ethnics and their signs for their own countries. Interesting!

I feel that we ought to respect their country signs. We can delibrately add physical features to help describe their countrymen.

Enuff said. Let me go and leave comments on other blogs! :D

I agree with you Noah, about keeping the signs for history - and like gina commented, we can use both and explain why.

I personally believe to use number 1 to show our repsect on body features. Some people are not offensive while others do. I am believer of Jesus Christ. He taught us to respect other people not keep on our own ways. We can always adjust ourselves for our peace. Thank you.

Go look at Bob's Vlog, He still use the old sign "Africa" on A with nose. and Aloysius sign "Cameroon", I never use that sign but that is his home country.

Hi,Noah, you have a good points with body features but i dont feel comfortable with bodyfeathers because there is many genocide in cultures but africa is very awful country.other countries too not only africa country.
